Diana Ruth Banta, daughter of Fred and Ruth Ellen (Whitesell) Downey, was born June 23, 1946 in Sioux City, IA. She entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family at the age of 68.
Diana grew up in Anthon and attended Anthon-Oto School where she graduated in 1965. On March 6, 1971, Diana was united in marriage to Ardell "Butch" Banta, Sr. in Correctionville. To this union two children were born: Ardell, Jr. and Deanna. For many years, Diana was a daycare provider in Correctionville and she owned D&B Enterprise with her husband.
Diana enjoyed eagles and anything patriotic. She liked going to the casino, playing cards and rummage sales. Most of all, she loved her kids and grandkids. Diana had been a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary.
Diana is survived by her husband, Ardell "Butch" Banta, Sr. of Correctionville, IA; one son, Ardell Banta, Jr. and wife Becky of Sioux City, IA; one daughter, Deanna Skidmore and husband Timothy of Salix, IA; six grandchildren: Kyle Skidmore and girlfriend Tyler of Salix, IA, Obbreanna Skidmore and Abbie Skidmore both of Salix, IA, Blake Banta, Jacob Banta and Josie Cadwell all of Sioux City, IA; two brothers: Larry Downey and wife Lori of Correctionville, IA and LaWayne Downey and wife Reba of Anthon, IA; sister-in-law, Patti Gotto of Mapleton, IA; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruth Downey; Ardell’s parents, Tuck and Kathy Banta; two nephews: Raleigh Downey and Benjamin Banta; two nieces: Hope Banta and Linda Roggatz; and brother-in-law, Duane Banta, Jr.
