Glenn Frank “Barney” Baker, son of George and Doris (Hime) Baker, was born July 14, 1945 near Little Sioux, IA. He entered into eternal rest and was found at his residence in Blencoe, IA on March 9, 2015. Barney was 69 years old.
Barney grew up and attended school at Little Sioux. After the schools consolidated, he attended and graduated from West Harrison School in Mondamin. Following graduation, he moved to Omaha and went to cosmetology school. He worked as a beautician for several years and then worked as a waiter at a five-star French restaurant in Omaha. Barney made his home in Omaha and then moved to Blencoe to care for his mom.
Barney was a member of Blencoe United Church of Christ. While in Omaha, he volunteered for the Omaha Opera for many years. He loved cooking especially baking, flower gardens, antiquing, and going out to eat. His favorite drink was Dr. Pepper.
Barney is survived by three sisters: Myra Harris of Omaha, NE, Nancy (Roger) Grandgenett of Las Vegas, NV, and Alice Fleming of San Diego, CA; 13 nieces and nephews; special friend, Don Miller of Omaha, NE; other relatives and many friends.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ben Baker; one sister, Emily Blacut and husband Alberto; and a niece, Beth Grandgenett.
