Phyllis Ann McLarty, daughter of Walter and Mabel (Chrestensen) Daniels, was born February 10, 1930 at Smithland, IA. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at her residence near Smithland at the age of 85.
Phyllis’ first years were spent in the Smithland area and then her family moved to Minnesota. After a few years in Minnesota, the family returned to Iowa to live in Sioux City and later moved back to the Smithland area. After Phyllis finished school, she worked at Younkers in Sioux City.
On June 25, 1949, Phyllis was united in marriage to Loyal “Bud” McLarty at Worthington, MN. They made their home in the Smithland area and Phyllis was a homemaker caring for their four children. She later helped Bud at his shop and with his salvage business. Bud died on September 28, 2007.
Phyllis enjoyed camping and traveling; watching hummingbirds; playing Yahtzee and Scrabble; and word search books. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Janet (Dennis) Morrisey of Lacey, WA, Connie (Frank) Reinhart of Siler City, NC, Karen Jensen and Debra Brown both of Smithland, IA; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Bill (Karen) Daniels of Des Moines, IA; brother-in-law, LeRoy Douglas of Oto, IA; sister-in-law, Shirley Daniels of Brainerd, MN; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, an infant daughter, a great granddaughter, Madison; brothers: Charles, Everett, Ralph, Paul, Kenneth, Jack and Bob; and sisters: Murial Graybill, Edith Mead, Helen Mead and Jean Allard.
