Diane Faye Dawdy, daughter of Nicolas and Julia (DeMaris) Pies, was born May 25, 1949, at DeSmet, SD. Diane grew up and attended school in Richland, SD.
On October 22, 1963, Diane was united in marriage Daniel Wesley Dawdy in Elk Point, SD. They made their home in several communities in the Siouxland area. During the late 80’s, she worked at Curley Foods in Sioux City, IA. In their retirement years, Diane and Daniel lived in Little Sioux, IA and they ran a karaoke business. Daniel died on March 9, 2013 and Diane continued to make her home in Little Sioux until recent months when she moved to Onawa, IA. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and her animals. Most all, she loved spending time with family.
Diane died on Friday, June 12, 2015 at her home in Onawa after a courageous battle with cancer, having attained the age of sixty-six years and seventeen days.
Diane is survived by her four sons: Jeff Dawdy (Melissa) of Whiting, IA, Troy Dawdy (Darlene) of Sioux City, IA, Mike Dawdy of Onawa, IA and Daniel Dawdy (Angie) of Dell Rapids, SD; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; special adoptive sons: Deric Hardnett and Jay Hardnett both of Sioux City, IA; siblings: Melvin Pies (Sandy) of Sioux City, IA, Robert Pies (Carol) of Akron, IA, Carol Pies of Fremont, NE, Grace Onnen of Yankton, SD, Albert Pies of Summit, SD, Lloyd Pies (Fern) of Farmington, UT and Dale Pies (Cheryl) of Vale, SD; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel; one sister, Betty Strong; two brothers: Nicolas Pies and Edward Pies; and a nephew, Jim Pies.
