Edmond T. “Ed” McDaniel, 85, of Onawa, IA formerly of Little Sioux, IA died Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.
Edmond Thomas McDaniel, son of William James and Mary Sophia (Chromy) McDaniel, was born October 25, 1929 at Morse Bluff, NE. Ed’s family lived in several communities during his younger years then they moved to Little Sioux, IA where he graduated high school with the class of 1947. After high school, he moved and worked in Alaska until his marriage.
On June 4, 1950, Ed was united in marriage to Esta Louise Bean at Little Sioux. To this union one daughter, Julie, was born. Ed worked for General Motors Corporation and with his job had lived in Omaha, NE, Denver, CO, Dallas, TX and Colorado Springs, CO. After retiring from G.M., Ed and Esta moved back to Little Sioux and he helped on the farm until retiring at age 82. In recent years, they made their home at Premier Estates in Onawa.
Ed enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, gardening and farming.
Ed is survived by his wife, Esta of Onawa; daughter, Julie Pekarek and husband Terry of Little Sioux; two grandchildren: Angie Wahle and husband Blu of Council Bluffs and Thomas Pekarek and wife Kandi of Little Sioux; three great grandchildren: Axel and Barret Wahle and Cooper Pekarek; two sisters: Addie Furne and Mary Hanks both of Missouri Valley; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Katie McIntosh and Margaret Baldwin and one brother, William McDaniel.
