Willard Thomas “Red” Maslonka, son of Tom and Marie A. (Maw) Maslonka, was born February 28, 1929 at Macy, NE. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA at the age of 86.
Red grew up near Macy and attended Macy Public School. On March 31, 1952, he was inducted into the United States Marine Corps and served until his honorable discharge on March 18, 1954. He then returned to the Macy area and he worked for Thurston County as a heavy equipment operator. In later years, he farmed until retiring in the early 2000’s. After retirement, he made his home in Decatur.
Red was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, Walthill Rodeo Association and the American Legion Rogers-Crum Post #215 in Decatur. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns and black lab dogs.
Red is survived by three siblings: Nellie Karlin of Fremont, NE, Ed Maslonka of Lyons, NE and Marylin (Charles) Richardson of Onawa, IA; a sister-in-law, Shirley Gregerson of Omaha, NE; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Elton Maslonka and Howard Maslonka; two brothers-in-law: Dwayne Karlin and Doug Gregerson and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Maslonka.
