Roy L. Beebe, son of Roy Owen and May Evangeline (Ramsey) Beebe was born September 4, 1939 at Iowa City, IA. He entered into eternal rest on July 25, 2015 after a long fight with his health at his daughter Tina’s home in Onawa, where he had been residing. Roy passed away on the love of his life’s birthday – his last gift to Linda, who passed away on January 27, 2015.
Roy grew up in the Onawa area and at age 17 he enlisted in the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge. After his military time, he returned to Onawa and used his self taught diesel mechanic as well as his welding skills for his profession. He had been employed by Booth Construction, Doc Wilmont of Onawa Implement Company, and worked on many area farmers’ equipment repairs. Later, Roy took a job in Loveland, CO to work on mining equipment. He ended his career with Randall Smith of Brownsville, NE where he completed the rebuild of the Belle Riverboat until his retirement at age 62.
Roy enjoyed boxing in his younger years, car racing and tractor pulls. He was a hard worker and a family man, raising his three children and remaining to care for his mother and great aunt, Maxine.
